Djokovic and Nadal Practice Together in Paris before Battle for No.1 Begins

The race for ATP year-end No.1 will pick up steam in Paris, and to celebrate World No.1 Novak Djokovic and World No.2 Rafael Nadal had a rare practice together at Bercy, the site of next week’s Rolex Paris Masters.For those who are wondering why these two aren’t keeping their games closer to their vest, we say what could they possibly be hiding from one another after 54 head-to-head meetings (Djokovic leads 28-26).According to ATPTour.com, Djokovic led Nadal 6-4 2-2 in a practice before the pair decided to finish with a tiebreaker, which Djokovic won.
Djokovic is the reigning No.1 and will begin his 275th week at No.1 on Monday, but Nadal holds a decided 1,280 point edge in the Race to London standings. Nadal could potentially reclaim the No.1 ranking in Paris this week, and if he winds up winning the title he would even lock up the No.1 year-end ranking.The draw for Paris is stacked, with nine Top 10 players in the mix, including Djokovic, Nadal and Roger Federer. Four-time champion Djokovic (32-8 lifetime) is in Daniil Medvedev’s half, while Federer (23-11, one title)and Nadal (16-5, zero titles) are in the bottom half.
