Del Potro Comeback Update: Hitting Again
Ready? Set? Go!Juan Martin del Potro is brandishing a Wilson racquet and cracking tennis balls—albeit a tad gingerly—for the first time since undergoing knee surgery in June. The 2009 US Open champion had to have a fractured patella repaired after he slipped and aggravated the knee at Queen’s Club this summer.
Del Potro, a former World No.3 and owner of 22 ATP titles, has already made plans to play the Stockholm Open in Sweden, which takes place from 14-20 October. The “Tower of Tandil” has underwent five surgeries since 2014—three on his left wrist, one on his right wrist, and now the right patella.
]]>I’m very happy to tell you that I’ll play in Stockholm and Vienna in October. These two tournaments are very special to me, as I had the chance to win both of them. See you there! #sthlmopen #so19 @IntrumSthlmOpen @ErsteBankOpen #ErsteBankOpen
