ATP Rankings: Tsitsipas Cracks Top 5; Kyrgios Back in Top 30

On the heels of a semi-final run at the Citi Open, Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas makes his Top-5 debut in Monday’s ATP rankings.The 20-year-old is the only player that has yet to turn 21 in the ATP’s Top 20 and he’ll head to the Rogers Cup in Montreal this week to defend final points.

We’ll have to wait and see what kind of health Tsitsipas is in. He struggled with a hamstring injury at the Citi Open—originally injured in the quarter-finals against Benoit Paire and exacerbated in his three-set loss to Nick Kyrgios.“I felt my muscle pulled a little bit after—I was in the middle of the match against Benoit Paire,” Tsitsipas told reporters. “I stretched a couple of times from the forehand side and felt tension in my hamstrings. I did it once. It was quite painful. Then the second time it got even worse. So this morning I was actually—I was struggling to walk, to go have lunch. It was quite painful.”Tsitsipas, seeded fourth at the Coupe Rogers, will face either Taylor Fritz or Hubert Hurkacz in the second round.In other rankings news, former World No.13 Nick Kyrgios is back in the Top 30 after taking his sixth career title in D.C. The Aussie jumps 25 spots to No.27 in the world after improving to 5-1 against the Top 10 on the season with a 7-6(6) 7-6(4) win over Daniil Medvedev in the final.Albert Ramos-Vinolas jumps 17 spots to 52 after reaching the final and falling to Dominic Thiem in Kitzbuhel, while Peter Gojowczyk climbs 37 spots to No.85 after reaching the semi-finals at the Citi Open as a lucky loser.Taylor Fritz makes his Top 25 debut on the strength of reaching the Los Cabos final. The 21-year-old American has reached the final in three of his last four ATP events.Korea’s Soonwoo Kwon makes his Top 100 debut at No.97 on the strength of a quarter-final run in Los Cabos, while Radu Albot (39) and Casper Ruud (56) also make career-high rankings this week.Italy's Jannik Sinner, who won the Lexington Challenger, rose 59 spots to 135–he's the youngest player in the Top 200 at 17.Russia’s Daniil Medvedev moved back to his career-high ranking of No.9 thanks to his final appearance at Citi Open, and he moved one spot higher in the Race to London standings.
