(August 17, 2011) Robin Soderling's coach, Fredrik "Fidde" Rosengren, told Radiosporten that it is likely that the 27-year-old will miss the upcoming US Open beginning on August 30.
"Robin has not played since the best and only practiced sporadically," He was quoted saying(traslated from Swedish to English). "Yes, absolutely I think so, unfortunately. Last time I talked to him it was not good at all and when you do not know when to start and how much training you can get. It makes no sense at all to get on a plane to the U.S. if you have not been able to prepare."
Apparently, the World No. 5 had issues with his right hand while he was exercising. Soderling has not played any tour tournaments since the Swedish Open due to the injury.
This brings back memories of Juan Martin Del Potro's wrist injury, Serena Williams' foot complications, and Justine Henin's elbow pain that took two of them out for a year and took the Belgian out of the game full stop. Everyone is hoping the best but the lack of details on the situation is troubling.
