(November 22, 2010) We are now 39 days away from the end of the year, the holiday season is soon to be in full swing, and players have already begun to pull of tournaments in the 2011 season.

Though most are unsure as to what they’ll even eat for dinner tonight, Serena Williams is sure of one thing, she will not be participating this upcoming January in the 2011 mixed doubles event at the Hyundai Hopman Cup.

Calling upon the foot injury that she sustained while in Munich after winning at this year’s Wimbledon tournament will prevent her from competing in Perth. Initially receiving 18 stitches, Williams was required to undergo more surgery to repair a tendon. Because of this, she was forced to withdraw from the 2010 US Open, but returned to practice in September. Only too then put off her comeback by pulling out of tournaments in Tokyo, Beijing and Linz, Austria.

In an announcement on October 10, Williams posted on her official website, that she had "re-strained" her foot by overtraining and "likely" would be out of the year.

The 25-year-old has taken a mighty fall in the rankings going from No.1 to No.4, was seen last week attending a Miami Dolphins game with her right foot in plaster. By pulling out of this tournament, speculations have already begun about whether Williams will appear at the 2011 Australian Open, held just days later.

An official announcement from tournament organizers is set for Tuesday, Nov. 23.
