(October 18, 2010) Rafael Nadal has spent much of the season schooling opponents and now he's taking his educational efforts to India. Keeping a promise he made a year ago, Nadal returned to India accompanied by mother Ana Maria to personally open the Rafael Nadal Educational & Sports School in Anantapur, India.
The school features three red clay courts, a computer room and classrooms. The Rafael Nadal Foundation and the Vicente Ferrer Foundation, which has worked in the region for the past 40 years, collaborated on the project.
Nadal took time out to hit with the kids, showing them his forehand grip and formally opened the school in a ribbon-cutting ceremony the Rafael Nadal Foundation announced as cutting "the first of what hopefully will be many ribbons."
