(October 13, 2010) He may not have time to friend all of his 4 million followers, but Roger Federer is a Facebook fan. Federer has posted some photos from the Shanghai Rolex Masters on his Facebook page this week and said today he enjoys reading comments from fans on the social networking site.

"I like to read what my fans write, especially on my Facebook page, I wish I could read and respond to them all!" Federer said in response to questions from Chinese fans on the ATP web site. "Of course it is important to have their support and I do appreciate the fact that I have been voted the fans’ favourite player on the ATP web site the past few years."

Playing his first match since he failed to convert a pair of match points in succumbing to Novak Djokovic in the US Open semifinals, Federer fired 30 winners against nine unforced errors in dismissing John Isner,
6-3, 6-4, to reach the round of 16 in Shanghai.

Coach Paul Annacone and IMG super agent Tony Godsick were on hand to watch Federer, who travelled to Shanghai without wife Mirka, and the couple's twin daughters. Federer says Annacone has offered new views on his approach to the game.

"Paul is a very nice guy and he's very calm and has experience as a player as well as a coach," Federer said. "It is good to hear a different, fresh opinion on how I need to handle myself both from a tactical and a mental standpoint."

Federer said family life has provided a beneficial balance to his professional life.

"I love tennis and it is not difficult to be motivated, I always want to be the best I can be," Federer said. "Having a family now and having my wife and daughters travelling with me everywhere, it contributes to me having a balanced life."

The third-ranked Swiss said on Facebook he can slam dunk a tennis ball (Federer said he has not dunked a basketball, but can jam a tennis ball) and revealed today if he hadn't become a tennis player, he'd probably be getting his kicks on the soccer pitch.

"I still want to play tennis for a few years; I would like my daughters to see me play now they are too young," Federer said. "I think I will be involved in tennis in some way in the future but it is early to think about that, I still have a lot of things that I would like to achieve. I liked soccer very much when I was young, so I could have become a professional player in soccer (if not for tennis)."
