(January 21,2011) In fashion, there are many brands that simply stay safe, choosing the simplest hues that can be found in a regular box of crayons and prints that aren’t intended to “dazzle” in stores, instead, they quietly disappear off the racks.
Then there’s the other side. Brands that see the limit and think “Oh, we can go so much further than this,” then proceed to run, not walk, further than any other line has gone before it. Falling into this category is Giorgio Armani whose ads have been seen, and banned, around the world.
Now added to the list of men that are willing to bare all for the sake of the fashion powerhouse is Rafael Nadal. Released today are the first images of Nadal posing for an Armani jeans as well as the company’s underwear line.
This release comes in a timely manner as the Spaniard takes on Gold Coast teen Bernard Tomic today at the Australian Open in Melbourne. What’s strange, however, is Nadals ease in showing his athletic physique to the entire planet, yet, when taking on the No.199 ranked player he’s nervous.
"I'm going to be nervous," he told the press, "like, 10 minutes before the match and when the match starts. But, if I start to be nervous two days before, I think I have a big problem."
When asked about his opponent Nadal replied,
"He's very young…He has the potential to be in the top positions in the future. In the third round of a grand slam, no opponent can be easy.”
As for his training regimen, there hasn’t been an announcement of any changes yet.
"What can I do different? Practice a little bit, rest in the hotel, maybe go to the aquarium. I haven't been this year. I go every year."
