(May 5, 2010) Madrid is taking tennis to the big screen with the two-player singles final presented as a 3D experience.

The Mutua Madrilena Madrid Open men's and women's singles finals set for May 16th will be simulcast in 3D in select movie theaters in Spain, tournament organizers announced today.

Theaters in Madrid, Barcelona and Malaga will present the finals in 3D marking the first time the Madrid Open matches will be broadcast on the big screen outside of the tournament grounds.

"It's something I have never experienced before," Carlos Moya said at today's press conference announcing the event. "I have seen films in 3D but seeing Rafa (Nadal) or (Roger) Federer on the big screen should be something spectacular."

Federer beat Nadal in the 2009 Madrid Open men's final. Dinara Safina beat Caroline Wozniacki, 6-2, 6-4, to capture the 2009 women's title.
