(October 14, 2010) Andy Murray captivated a nation in reaching the Wimbledon semifinals in July. The fourth-ranked Scot will he headed back to London next month. Murray  has qualified for the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals after reaching the quarterfinals at the Shanghai  Rolex Masters with a 6-3, 6-4 win over French qualifier Jeremy Chardy on Thursday.

The Scot is the fourth player to qualify for the season finale, to be held from November 21-28th at The O2 Arena in London, joining Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer  and Novak Djokovic.

"It's great having now qualified for the Finals, and it's amazing I get to play in front of a home crowd again, it was such a good atmosphere there last year," said Murray. "I thought they did a great job organizing, especially as it was the first year at The O2, they put on a great event and I look forward to competing again.”

Murray won his 15th career title this past summer at the Rogers Cup in Toronto, where he became the fifth different player to defeat Nadal and Federer in the same tournament. He also was a finalist this season at the Australian Open and Farmers Classic in Los Angeles, and reached the semi-finals at Wimbledon.

The 23-year-old Murray will be making his third straight appearance at the season-ending championships, achieving his best result in 2008 when he reached the semi-finals.

Four singles berths remain up for grabs at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals with just under five weeks left in the regular ATP World Tour season. The winner of this week’s Shanghai Rolex Masters will add 1,000 South African Airways 2010 ATP Rankings points to his season total.

The Barclays ATP World Tour Finals is the world's biggest indoor tennis event, where each of the top eight players are drawn to play a minimum of three round-robin matches to determine which four players advance to the knockout semi-finals.
