(March 7, 2011) Ivo Karlovic isn’t exactly what most would call a “household name.” Ranked at No. 239, Kellogg won’t be calling anytime soon for him to pose for a Wheaties box.  However, 6'10" player may be looking to change all of this, as he is now the record holder for the fastest serve in men’s tennis history. 

Beating out Andy Roddick’s 7 year run by only 1 mph, Karlovic pulled out a 156 mph serve while partnering with Ivan Dodig in the Davis Cup doubles match against Philipp Petzschner and Christopher Kas of Germany.

Despite hitting the record breaker, Karlovic and Dodig lost the game 6-3, 3-6, 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 and eventually Croatia faced a greater 3-2 defeat to Germany.

Karlovic also shares the record for the third fastest serve, 153mph, with Roddick and, another American player, Roscoe Tanner.
