Whatever Larry Ellison does to convince the ATP’s top-flight talent to enter the doubles competition at the BNP Paribas Open, fans of doubles are surely hoping that some other tournament bosses figure it out.
>>> Five Burning Questions for the Women at Indian Wells
Once again the BNP Paribas doubles draw is loaded with singles talent, starting with Roger Federer and Stan Wawrinka, who played the 2011 final at Indian Wells, losing to Alexandr Dolgopolov and Xavier Malisse. The 2008 Olympic Gold Medalists will face off with the sixth-seeded duo of Rohan Bopanna and Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi in the first round.
Four other top ten players will compete in doubles, including Novak Djokovic, who will partner with fellow Serb Filip Krajinovic, and Andy Murray, who will join forces with Jonathan Marray of Great Britain.
Another notable pairing features Juan Martin del Potro and Marin Cilic, who will take on seventh-seeded Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic in the first round.
The 32-team draw will also feature such pairings as Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Nicolas Mahut, Jeremy Chardy and Gilles Simon (will face Isner and Querrey), Jerzy Janowicz and Philipp Kohlschreiber (will face Paes and Stepanek), Gael Monfils and Juan Monaco (will face Murray and Marray) and Fabio Fognini and Andreas Seppi.
Still not satisfied? Well, how about Ernests Gulbis and Milos Raonic (who will face Djokovic and Krajinovic in the first round)?
If you’re a traditionalist then you’ll be rooting for top-seeded Bob and Mike Bryan to defend their title. The World No. 1 doubles team and 2012 Olympic gold medalists will open with Scott Lipsky and Florian Mayer.

And while the women’s doubles draw is lighter on stars, it does feature Martina Hingis and Sabine Lisicki.
