(November 3, 2010) Sam Querrey has won more titles than any American man this season, but Andy Roddick topped Querrey to maintain his status at the top of the American food chain today. Roddick saved a set point at 5-6 in the second-set tie breaker in scoring a 7-5, 7-6(6) victory to reach the round of 16 at the Swiss Indoors Basel.

Roddick ripped 16 aces and saved the only break point he faced in the second set to raise his record against Querrey to 5-2 and avenge his quarterfinal loss to Querrey in their last meeting in February.

The fourth-seeded Roddick will take on Andrey Golubev for a quarterfinal spot. Golubev beat Xavier Malisse, 7-5, 6-2.

Wild card Radek Stepanek swept Thiemo de Bakker, 6-3, 7-6(5). Stepanek will play Santiago Giraldo next with the winner possibly getting a shot at top-seeded Swiss Roger Federer in the quarterfinals.

Three-time champion Federer leads Janko Tipsarevic in his round of 16 match.
