(May 26, 2011) Former World No. 1 and two-time Grand Slam champion Amelie Mauresmo is out of the French Open mixed doubles tournament because of doping rules that apply to players coming of out retirement.
Mauresmo was a last-minute entry into the tournament, and she was going to play with countryman Michael Llodra.
French Open tournament organizers granted the pair a wildcard, but were then informed by the French tennis federation that Mauresmo was not allowed to compete because she was no longer in the sport’s anti-doping program, according to the Associated Press.
