(January 2, 2012) ASICS announced it signed US Open champion Samantha Stosur to a clothing and footwear deal that began at the Brisbane International, one of the first tournaments of the year.
“I’m really excited to join the ASICS team. I’ve actually worn their shoes for a couple of years, so now to be fully kitted out is really exciting for me and I am really looking forward to getting the year started,” Stosur said in an ASICS statement.
Kevin Wulff, ASICS America Corporation President and CEO, said Stosur was a good choice to wear his company’s clothing because she “truly embodies the ASICS spirit and principles that the company was founded on. We look forward to seeing her head to toe in ASICS on the court in 2012 and beyond.”
Stosur will attempt to become the first Australian woman to with her native Grand Slam tournament since Chris O’Neil in 1978.
