Leylah Fernandez was victimized by rising teen Mirra Andreeva in Madrid this spring, as the Russian notched her first career WTA win over the Canadian, 6-3, 6-4.

On Thursday in Hong Kong, Fernandez exacted a modicum of revenge, rallying through 11 of the final 13 games to take out the World No.50, 3-6, 6-1, 6-3.

Andreeva was ranked 194 when they met earlier this spring, but has since risen to become the youngest player inside the WTA’s Top 50.

"She's very tough to play against," said Fernandez after her win. "I'm very happy with the way I fought and the way I found solutions. I wasn't afraid of going to the net even though I was missing a lot."

Fernandez nets her 21st win of the season and sets a quarterfinal clash with another teen, 18-year-old Linda Fruhvirtova of the Czech Republic.

Fruhvirtova edged another 16-year-old, Alina Korneeva, 6-3, 7-5 on Thursday.

Elsewhere in Hong Kong, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova blasted past No.2-seeded Beatriz Haddad Maia 7-5, 1-6, 6-1, thanks to 43 winners. The Russian has now won three of her last four against the Top 20 – she has risen from outside the Top 300 in May to her current perch at No.62.

Pavlyuchenkova will take on Katerina Siniakova in the quarterfinals.

Here are the quarterfinal matches set for Friday in Hong Kong.
