Williams' father, now 79, rarely makes public appearances and has not attended tournaments where both Venus and her sister Serena Williams have competed in some time.
The seven-time Grand Slam champion is currently coached by Eric Hechtman according to the WTA.
Despite Richard Williams' recent low profile in the public, that might change later in the year on the release of the new film "King Richard". Two-time Academy Award nominee Will Smith stars as Richard Williams in the film that will cover how Williams coached his two daughters into sports superstardom.
The film is set to be released on November 19.
Venus Williams, is hoping to build some momentum this summer despite a tough season so far. Williams has only won three matches this year, one of them being a first round victory at Wimbledon a few weeks ago.
Four-time gold champion Venus will miss this year's Olympics in Tokyo though she is expected to compete later this summer in North America.
