The British Olympics tennis team has been dealt another tough blow as Dan Evans has been ruled out due to a positive Covid-19 test result.
The World No.28 is the top-ranked British player at the moment. The news comes just one day after Johanna Konta, the top-ranked British female player, revealed that he had tested positive for Covid-19 and would also miss the Tokyo Olympics.
The men’s and women’s singles events at the Olympics has been hit by a large amount of players opting out, due to strict coronavirus countermeasures, the lack of fans in attendance, the busy tennis tour calendar, and injuries.
Here is the current list of qualified players that will not be attending, as of July 14. The Olympic tennis event begins on July 24.
