Grigor Dimitrov has tested positive for Covid-19 and is back home in Monaco resting. The Bulgarian has been playing on the Adria Tour, both in Belgrade, Serbia and Zadar, Croatia, over the last two weekends. He made the announcement on Instagram on Sunday.
“I want to reach out and let my fans and friends know that I tested positive back in Monaco for Covid-19,” Dimitrov wrote in Instagram. “I want to make sure anyone who has been in contact with me during these past days gets tested and takes the necessary precautions."
Dimitrov’s test results throws the state of the ATP Tour into chaos, as he was in close quarters with many top players over the last two weekends at Novak Djokovic’s Adria Tour. Djokovic, along with Dominic Thiem, Alexander Zverev, Borna Coric and Andrey Rublev are just a few of the players that were involved with the event.
Government standards for social distancing were adhered to, but overall the tournament seemed to display a shocking amount of disregard for social distancing protocols
Djokovic was slated to play today's final against Andrey Rublev, the final had to be cancelled.
