Jelena Ostapenko felt her title hopes slip away last Sunday.

The 2017 Roland Garros champion was in no mood to play the waiting game today.

Ostapenko blasted through eight of the last nine games dethroning defending champion Julia Goerges 6-4, 6-1 to take the Luxembourg title.

It is Ostapenko's third career title, including her first in two years.

Ostapenko claimed the 2017 Seoul championship months after she fought off Simona Halep 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 to capture her first championship at the French Open.

Riding a nine-match Luxembourg winning streak into the final, Goerges stayed in step through the first eight games.

Then Ostapenko made her move.

The 22-year-old Latvian broke for 5-4 racing through eight of the last 10 points to collect a one-set lead.

During this European indoor season, Ostapenko has been working with former Wimbledon champion Marion Bartoli.

Ostapenko, who was runner-up to 15-year-old Coco Gauff in last Sunday's Linz final, was thumping her returns with authority and smacking flat drives with ambition in the second set.

Ostapenko broke serve three times in a row reeling off five straight games to seize her third career title in style.
