Novak Djokovic has added a Wimbledon legend to his coaching team. The World No.1 will work with Goran Ivanisevic starting here at Wimbledon, where the 2001 champion will spend the first week with Djokovic, before personal obligations may take him out of town.
The Croatian, who won Wimbledon as a wild card and owns a 49-14 lifetime record at SW19, has already experienced his first practice with the four-time champion. He hopes the pair can creating a lasting partnership and says that he’s happy to have Marian Vajda, Djokovic’s longtime coach, on board.
According to Serbian journalist Saša Ozmo of Sportklub, Ivanisevic is trying to get his schedule changed so he can stay for the full fortnight. Ozmo met with Ivanisevic and Vajda on Sunday at Wimbledon.
“We talked a bit about my vision of his game, about technical matters,” Ivanisevic told Ozmo.: Here, we will now get to know each other better, get closer and we will sit down and look for further."
