The Frenchman saved six of seven break points to take down Australia’s Jordan Thompson, 7-6(7) 6-3, for the Libéma Open title in ‘s-Hertogenbosch.
Mannarino, 30, knocked off three of the tournament’s top five seeds en route to the title. He defeated fifth-seeded Fernando Verdasco 1-6 6-3 6-4 in the second round and then edged fourth-seeded David Goffin 4-6 7-5 6-3 to reach the semis.
In the semi-finals Mannarino needed two days and a third-set tiebreaker to knock off second-seeded Borna Coric, 4-6 6-3 7-6(4).
Thompson reached his first ATP final by defeating defending champion Richard Gasquet 7-5 6-3 in a match that was also held over and had to be completed on Sunday.
Mannarino improves to 3-1 against Thompson and 3-0 against the 25-year-old on grass. He was won all six sets against Thompson on grass.
Thompson had never reached an ATP semi-final prior to defeating third-seeded Alex De Minaur in three sets in the quarter-finals. He also defeated sixth-seeded Frances Tiafoe in the second round.
He is projected to crack the Top 50 for the first time in Monday’s ATP rankings.
