What was Day 5 of Roland Garros like? We’ll let the tweets and grams tell the story—here goes.
1. Ball kids love Rafa. We love Rafa. Everybody loves Rafa.
2. Maybe the cutest tennis photo in, we don’t know, the last million years? It’s Ash Barty of Australia.
3. And this is not the cutest tennis photo, but thumbs up to Kyle Edmund for being a heckuva a player and for sharing!
4. Elina Vesnina hits Versailles. Looks like a fun day.
5. It’s not the ‘tweener that impressed us, it’s the clay-court footwork on display from Rafael Nadal. It actually looks like he’s skating.
6. Nice milestone for Maria Sakkari, who is the first player from Greece to reach the third round at Roland Garros in 15 years.
7. Roland Garros said goodbye to one of the good guys today—France’s Julien Benneteau.
8. It will be Nadal and Gasquet in round three. Check out these critters from way back when…
9. Benoit Paire gives the press a full rundown on his hair and the emotional vicissitudes caused by said hair when said hair is in the process of changing color. This is just so Benoit.
10. Two players who like to draw hearts in clay when they win Roland Garros celebrate Lacoste’s 85th year ---- Bravo!
