20-year-old Slovenian Tamara Zidansek upset Daria Kasatkina for her first Top 20 win and first WTA-level quarterfinal at the Moscow River Cup.

Unseeded Slovenian Tamara Zidansek battled past hometown favorite and No.2 seed Daria Kasatkina, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 to reach the last eight at the Moscow River Cup.

Zidansek, who won the 125K event at Bol, Croatia in June, was a break down three times in the third set but converted four of five break points in the decider and nine of fifteen in the match to prevail in one hour and 53 minutes.
Kasatkina tossed in 10 double faults and only managed to win 33 of 77 points in the match.
Zidansek will face Germany’s Laura Siegemund in the quarterfinals.
Siegemund defeated Ukranian Kateryna Kozlova, 6-0, 6-3 on Thursday to reach her second quarterfinal in as many weeks.
The German is the oldest remaining player in a quarterfinal field that features 17-year-olds Anastasia Potapova and Olga Danilovic.
