Six-time champion Novak Djokovic will face Donald Young in the first round of the 2018 Australian Open and if he is victorious could face Gael Monfils in the second round. The Serb is set to play his first ATP matches since he retired against Tomas Berdych at Wimbledon last summer, and if he progresses to the semifinals, he could meet a familiar foe in five-time champion Roger Federer.

Federer, seeded second, opens his Australian Open title defense against Aljaz Bedene of Great Britain.

The Swiss could face Richard Gasquet in the third round.

Federer and Djokovic are in a tricky bottom half of the draw that also includes No.4-seeded Alexander Zverev, No.12-seeded Juan Martin del Potro, No.5-seeded Dominic Thiem and No.9-seeded Stan Wawrinka.

On the top half, Rafael Nadal will face Victor Estrella Burgos in the first round. If the seeds hold he would face Marin Cilic in the quarterfinals and No.3-seeded Grigor Dimitrov in the semifinals.

Play begins Monday in Melbourne.
