After a strong clay-court season, Estonia’s Anett Kontaveit continues to display stellar form on the grass. The 21-year-old eased past Germany’s Carina Witthoeft, 6-3, 6-1, to book her spot in the Ricoh Open Semis on Friday.

Kontaveit, who will face Lesia Tsurenko in the semifinal, is into her first grass-court semifinal. She improved to 16-9 on the season with the win, and is playing at a career-high ranking of 49.
No.7-seeded Tsurenko knocked off Kristina Mladenovic, 6-3, 6-1.
The top-half semifinal will feature No.5-seeded Ana Konjuh and World No.74 Natalia Vikhlyantseva. Konjuh, who defeated Evgeniya Rodina 6-3, 6-7(4), 7-6(10, has lost four of five on grass after winning the Nottingham title in 2015, but has rebounded nicely with three straight wins at ‘s-Hertogenbosch to reach her sixth career semifinal.
Vikhlyantseva, 20, is into her third career semifinal. She defeated Arantxa Rus, 6-3, 6-2.
