Kuznetsova has now won 10 of 11 against the Pole and moves on to face either Angelique Kerber or Garbiñe Muguruza in the second round.

Kuznetsova has not reached a quarterfinal at Wimbledon since 2007, and she has never been beyond that round at SW19. Kuznetsova has reached the last eight at a major for the first time since 2014 Roland Garros.

She saved all three break points she faced and converted three of nine break points to ease past Radwanska on No.3 Court.

Joining Kuznetsova in the quarterfinals is Jelena Ostapenko. The Latvian converted her 8th match point against No.4-seeded Elina Svitolina to prevail 6-3, 7-6(6) in one hour and 44 minutes.

Ostapenko won 28 of 39 rallies that lasted between five and eight shots. She cracked 42 winners to just 14 for Svitolina.

Svitolina showed heart, rallying from 5-2 down in set three to force a tiebreaker and saving seven match points before finally yielding.

In other Manic Monday action, Magdalena Rybarikova reached her first career major quarterfinal by defeating Petra Martic, 6-4, 2-6, 6-3.
