She had not won a tour-level match in 2016, and had only won two main draw matches over the course of her whole career, but France’s Oceane Dodin didn’t let that stop her this week at the Coupe Banque Nationale in Quebec.

Dodin took out American qualifier Lauren Davis, 6-4, 6-3, in the final to win her first career title and she will crack the Top 100 in Monday’s ranking joining fellow teenagers Daria Kasatkina, Belinda Bencic, Jelena Ostapenko, Ana Konjuh and Naomi Osaka.
Dodin had a great week from the service stripe, cracking 47 aces in five matches and winning over 90 percent of her service games heading into the final. She was broken four times on Sunday by Davis, but still managed to cruise to victory on the strength of very strong returns.
The Lille, France native won 15 of 22 points against Davis’ second serve and broke six times on ten opportunities.
Dodin finished with 31 winners and converted 16 of 26 net points in an aggressive display.
Davis was playing in her second career final, both of which have come this summer. The 22-year-old American drops to 13-9 on the season with the loss.
Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka took the doubles title, defeating Alla Kudryavtseva and Alexandra Panova, 7-6(2), 7-6(2), to move up to No. 5 on the Road to Singapore Leaderboard.
