The Czech was dominant all week in Zhuhai. She did not drop a set and she only lost 18 games en route to the title. Kvitova encountered some resistance in the form of an early break by Svitolina in the first set, but quickly found her form and raced to her fourth victory in four matches against the Ukrainian No.1 in 2016.
Kvitova dropped only four of 27 first-serve points and won 15 of 20 against Svitolina’s second serve. She broke five times on nine opportunities to claim her 46th victory of the season. Kvitova improves to an impressive 19-7 lifetime in finals with the win. She won two titles in 2016 out of three finals.
Svitolina drops to 4-2 lifetime in finals and 1-6 lifetime against Kvitova.
In the doubles final, Ipek Soylu and Xu Yifan overcame wildcards Yang Zhaoxuan and You Xiaodi, 6-4, 3-6, 10-7.
