The 10 best social media gems from a wild—and crazy—first ten days at the 2015 Australian Open in Melbourne.
1. Stefan is already studing modern footwork techniques and thinking of way that he can improve upon them!
2. Is Serena not the funniest, most “out there” player on tour? The women’s tour sure does have its characters…
3. Now this is how you win a Grand Slam doubles semifinal! Look at that close shave on the challenge at match point that Yung-Jan Chan and Jie Zheng win. Is it possible to find less court?
4. Serena Williams tries to help her sister Venus with a close call during her round of 16 match with Agnieszka Radwanska, but Vee doesn’t listen.
5. She tumbled out of the tournament in the quarterfinals, but this backhand beauty from Simona Halep during week one left our jaw somewhere down around our ankles.
6. The press room, where serious tennis strategies and heartfelt emotions are discussed… after the bird poop stories, of course!
7. It wasn’t diablo hot in Australia during the first ten days, but Spaniard Feliciano Lopez made sure it stayed warm.
8. Young Milos is a fast learner, but he couldn’t dodge Novak Djokovic’s bullets in the quarterfinals.
9. The Vine of the year award has been handed out. Yeah, we know it’s only January, but this adorable reaction to a fly buzzing his presser by Rafael Nadal will not be topped (Though Serena’s Hogwarts Vine is a close No. 2),
10. Most of us no doubt can agree that a world without Roger Federer in the second week of majors is a scary, strange world. We found that out first hand this week, but at least we have this Vine to keep us company.
11. (Because this one goes to 11) Yes this one goes to 11, but we think Vika’s a perfect ten! Was good to see her back, no?
