The 20-year-old American will begin working with former ATP pro Jesse Levine and remain with her trainer Scott Byrnes. Keys plans to add a new travelling physio before the beginning of 2016. The Split was confirmed by WTA Insider on Thursday.
Keys went 31-18 in 2015, finishing the year at No. 18 in the world. While she was unable to back up her semifinal run at the Australian Open, the hard-serving American did reach the second week of the year’s final two majors, clocking a quarterfinal result at Wimbledon and a round of 16 appearance at the U.S. Open where she lost to Serena Williams.
Keys was also coached by Davenport’s husband, Jon Leach, as well as Lisa Raymond. Raymond partnered with Keys for many doubles events in 2015, including Madrid, Cincinnati and the U.S. Open.
According to the WTA, Keys knows Levine well:
Keys and Levine know each other well. Levine hit with Keys before her run to the final in Charleston and the hope is that his work ethic and positive energy, combined with his quality as a consistent hitting partner, will help the 20-year-old American continue to develop her game.
