Agnieszka Radwanska notched her second career victory over Petra Kvitova, winning 10 of the final 13 games to secure a 6-2, 6-3 victory over the third-seeded Czech at the WTA Finals in Singapore.

Singapore: Wozniacki Outlasts Sharapova in Three-Set Thriller

Radwanska, who had dropped five her previous six battles with the hard-hitting southpaw, took advantage of 42 unforced errors of Kvitova, breaking four times on nine opportunities while winning 16 of 22 of Kvitova’s second serve points.

While Kvitova struggled to find her typically imperious indoor form, Radwanska was stingy, only tossing in nine errors, blanketing the court with her trademark defense, and turning in some sublime shotmaking in the form of droppers, lobs and counterpunches. The victory puts Radwanska alone on top of the white group as the only player to have not lost a set in her first match.

Radwanska, who is making her sixth WTA Finals appearance (including twice as an alternate), reached the semifinals in 2012, but went 0-3 in round robin play last season.

The only Pole to ever play at the WTA Finals, Radwanska improved her 2014 record to 47-19 with the win. Kvitova, one of only three players to win the WTA Finals on her debut (2011), drops to 40-15 with the loss.
