The Scot fought back from a break down in the final set to claim his 30th career title, 5-7, 6-2, 7-5, and stretch his lead over Ferrer for the 8th and final London slot to 110 points with just two events remaining.
After dropping the opener, Murray saved all six break points he faced in the middle stanza to force a decider.
Ferrer had leads of 4-2 and 5-3 in the decider, but he double-faulted to hand Murray a break while serving for the match and proceeded to drop the final four games.
Murray improves to 8-6 lifetime against Ferrer, and he becomes just the fifth active player to have won 30 titles on the ATP Tour.
Ferrer and Murray are slated to meet again in the semifinals of next week’s Valencia Open.
