Caroline Wozniacki found herself in another wild fight to the finish with Maria Sharapova in Singapore on Tuesday, and once again it was Wozniacki who emerged victorious, 7-6(4), 6-7(5), 6-2.

More Singapore: Can Sharapova Make 2014 a "No. 1" Year?

Just like her resounding victory over the Russian at this year’s US Open, Wozniacki rebounded from dropping the middle set to snuff out Sharapova’s comeback plans with a dominant decider.

Wozniacki had chances to close the match in straight sets, but during a chaotic middle set, it was Sharapova’s grit that brought her back into the match. Wozniacki was broken while serving for the match, but she rebounded to hold serve before eventually dropping a see-saw second-set tiebreaker.

There was some tension and drama in that second set, as Wozniacki had difficulties with the lights inside the arena while serving and then took issue to a call that gave Sharapova a set point:

In the decider Wozniacki took a 2-0 lead only to see a determined Sharapova draw level again at 2-all.

But just like their last meeting in New York, a fitter, faster Wozniacki took the bull by the horns and raced away with the match, putting her second-set difficulties behind her and reeling off the final four games to close out the victory in three hours and 13 minutes.
