While two-time French Open finalist Robin Soderling is still out of action on the tennis courts for now, that doesn't mean he isn't keeping busy. The Swedish tennis star recently spoke to SVD Sport about his involvement in a new tennis ball brand.
Though not yet approved by the ITF, the new "RS - Any Court" balls are designed to be lighter and thus reduce stress on the body, but still provide players control when needed.
Soderling is not expecting to distribute the ball worldwide, but instead he plans to use it to promote tennis in local clubs throughout Sweden.
The 29-year-old has not played in over two years due to an extended battle with mono. Soderling is fully healthy now, but still not able to train at 100 percent, which is keeping him from rejoining his fellow ATP players on the tour. Though there were rumors earlier this summer that Soderling might appear at the upcoming Bercy event this fall, the Swede's official return is still uncertain.
Until then, Soderling and his partner Jenni Mostrom are happy raising their 11-month-old daughter Olivia and staying involved in projects like the new ball brand.
