Naomi Osaka has become the third player to qualify for the singles field at this year’s WTA Finals in Singapore, joining Simona Halep and Angelique Kerber. The 2018 U.S. Open champion becomes just the third player from Japan to qualify for the WTA’s season-ending championships, and the first since 2003.

The achievement is one of many in a breakthrough campaign for the 20-year-old Osaka. She won her first title at Indian Wells in March, and proceeded to win her first major title at the U.S. Open in September, which propelled her to her Top 10 debut. Now ranked six in the world, Osaka will turn 20 on October 16.

The WTA Finals will take place from 21-28 October.
