The 45-year-old Chang was named an International Tennis Hall of Fame ambassador.

Chang, who coaches Kei Nishikori, was formally introduced as ambassador at a news conference in Beijing.

"It was incredible to be inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2008," Chang said. "And now I'm honored to be a global ambassador for them. Obviously, not everyone has the opportunity to get a chance to go to Newport to experience the museum there and to be able to experience the inductions that happen each year.

"So I feel like now is an opportunity for me to be able to get to different places, particularly the Asia-Pacific rim and educate people on how special this is. How special it is to understand tennis' history."

Chang joins fellow Hall of Famer Martina Hingis as an International Tennis Hall of Fame ambassador.
