Puig and Maria Sharapova traveled to Puerto Rico to deliver supplies and resources to the island.

The YouCaring page Puig created in support of hurricane relief efforts has raised more than $141,000.

Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico destroying the power grid and creating flooding and massive damage to homes.

More than 80 percent of the island’s 3.4 million people are still without power, The Washington Post reports.

The pair, who played an exhibition in Puerto Rico last December, met with Governor Ricardo Rossello.

An emotional Puig spoke passionately and eloquently about her support for Puerto Rico in her Luxembourg Open runner-up speech yesterday.

Speaking directly to the Puerto Rican people, Puig broke down in tears vowing: "We’re gonna come back stronger."

The power of Puig's compassion has drawn support from fellow players.

Nick Kyrgios is donating $50 for every ace he hit to Puig's Puerto Rican relief initiative, while Sharapova is donating sales of her Sugarpova candy line to the cause.

"Little things make a big difference and her efforts are so incredibly admirable. Please donate to her fund," Sharapova wrote of Puig in this Instagram post.
