For the first time since June of 2003, the ATP’s Top 4 does not include the name Federer or Nadal. That’s the news that’s been making the rounds on Monday, and it really doesn’t come as a surprise. With Roger Federer now 35 and taking the rest of the season to recover from a knee injury, and Rafael Nadal, now 30, struggling to wreak havoc on draws the way he used to, it’s been a long time coming.

Nadal comes in at No. 5 in the ATP rankings this week, while Federer holds steady at No.7. The real question is: Can they both make it back to the Top 4 next year? We’re voting maybe.

In other rankings news on the ATP side, Nick Kyrgios reaches a career-high ranking of 14 after his title in Tokyo, while Alexander Zverev climbs to a career-high ranking of 21 after his trip to the China Open quarterfinals.

Zverev is bidding to become the first teenager to finish a season inside the ATP’s Top 20 in a decade.

Also moving up the ranks is British 21-year-old Kyle Edmund. After an appearance at the China Open quarterfinals Edmund makes his Top 50 debut at No. 48.

Pablo Carreno Busta (No.35) and Malek Jaziri (No.49) also reached career highs, while 18-year-old Frances Tiafoe makes his Top 100 debut after winning the Stockton Challenger title.
