Fernando Verdasco Cracks a Rare, Precious Milestone with Day 5 Comeback

Fernando Verdasco became only the sixth player in ATP history to complete comebacks from two sets down in all four Grand Slams on Thursday when he took out Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay, 4-6, 6-7(6), 7-5, 6-4, 6-3.

We got curious when we read the above tweet from Josh Meiseles, so we looked into the matter a little further. Here’s the breakdown of each of the six players who have completed this rare Grand Slam milestone.

While Verdasco completed his set of four at Roland Garros, three of the six (Federer, Becker and Krickstein) finished their sets at Wimbledon.

Interesting that Federer is the only player of the six to have completed a comeback from two sets down in the quarterfinals or later. He defeated Juan Martin del Potro in the Roland Garros quarterfinals in 2012.

How about that? When two sets down, both Krickstien and Becker have a slightly better winning percentage than Federer. But one more comeback by Federer would change that.
