Marton Fucsovics has a lot in common with the rest of the ATP Tour: he’s tired of losing to Andrey Rublev. On Thursday in Dubai Fucsovics, who fell to Rublev a few weeks ago in the Rotterdam final, and also last October in four sets at Roland-Garros, told the Russian exactly how he felt about facing him.
“I hope I don’t play you anymore this year,” he said.
Rublev, the current World No.8 and second seed in Dubai, will try to improve upon his streak of 23 consecutive ATP 500-level victories on Friday against compatriot Aslan Karatsev. The Russian has now gone 57-12 since the start of 2020 with six titles. He has also made the quarterfinals in his last three major appearances.
