Marion Bartoli's comeback is motivated by more than her love for tennis.
The 33-year-old Bartoli believes her return to the sport can be a key to her psychological recovery.

The 2013 Wimbledon champion told The Telegraph's Simon Briggs she suffers from psychological issues and believes the confidence she gains from playing tennis will help her recovery.
Bartoli has spoken in the past about an abusive relationship with her ex-boyfriend and she suffered a dramatic weight loss in 2016.
"Psychologically I suffer very much from different issues, most of them personal," Bartoli told The Telegraph. "It's been a very difficult part of my life. Some days are tougher than others, but tennis makes me happy.
"I feel confident between those lines. That's why I wanted to come back again as a pro. I wanted to feel positive for my mental health to succeed and achieve things. That's why this comeback goes beyond a simple love of the game. I think it will help me recover psychologically."
Bartoli will join world No. 4 Elina Svitolina, Venus Williams, Serena Williams and CoCo Vandeweghe among others playing for a $250,000 champion's prize at Madison Square Garden in Monday night's Tie Break Tens exhibition event.
The former world No. 7 hopes to launch her Tour-level comeback in Miami this month, though Bartoli has said she will not return to tournament tennis until she's fully fit.
"My way of getting my life back on track is through sport, through being an athlete, through feeling adrenaline again and trying to win matches," Bartoli told The Telegraph. "That's what I feel defines me."
Bartoli won Wimbledon without dropping a set, which has happened only six times in the history of the Wimbledon Championships. Reaching her highest rank of World No. 7 in January 2012, Bartoli won eight WTA singles titles and three doubles titles before retiring from professional tennis in August 2013.
