Nadal on Lessons Learned From 11th RG Crown

The lessons Rafael Nadal learned from claiming his record-extending 11th Roland Garros title have nothing to do with forehands and backhands.

The top-ranked Spaniard revealed two important lessons from undecima: stay humble and accept criticism.

"It's very simple to explain," Nadal told Spanish publication La Voz de Galicia in an interview. “If one is arrogant, then perhaps he needs to lose to learn. If one is not arrogant, it is much easier to learn by winning.

“If you have the ability to have self-criticism and if you let yourself be told the real things of the people around you, that they have the freedom to tell you when you do it well, because with victories it is much easier to learn.”

The 32-year-old Nadal also displayed a generous spirit after winning his 17th Grand Slam title. Nadal posed for a steam of selfies with fans while on court and spent time with fans on the grounds after completing his media obligations.
