Second Serve

Rafael Nadal talked to reporters in Paris after claiming his tenth Roland Garros. The King of Clay, who passed Pete Sampras and moved into second place on the ATP's all-time Grand Slam title list with 15, talked about his emotions after achieving the milestone (big), what he feels he can do on grass (depends on his knee, but he misses playing well at Wimbledon), how this title compares with his other nine at Roland Garros (hard to say but winning ten is pretty darn special) and whether or not he is playing the best tennis that he has ever played (also hard to say because he won Roland Garros without dropping a set on two other occasions).

Nadal was also asked if he would play with less pressure because he has won his 15th major title.

His answer?

“I’m going to be under pressure in one week when I play at Queen’s,” he said. “That’s the real thing. That’s the sport. That’s the beautiful thing about our sport. 15 is an unbelievable thing for me and 10 here is much more. So, my motivation is still there. I really want to keep competing for important things and I am going to keep working hard to try to have more days like today. That’s my motivation and that’s why I am still playing tennis because I have the passion for the game and I like the competition and I keep having chances to compete for the most important things and that’s what I want to keep trying to do.”
