World Team Tennis CEO Carlos Silva’s first major move when taking over the WTT helm this January was to align his league with CBS Sports.
So far, so good.
The match, won by the Freedoms 21-18, was the first for World TeamTennis (WTT) on CBS Sports. World Team Tennis’ deal with CBS also includes 15 matches on CBS Sports Network during the league’s three-week season and playoffs.
The league also noted a spike in the consumption of its content on social media as a byproduct of the CBS broadcast. According to the league there were 175,000 video plays across the WTT channels (Social, Website, Video Partners) over the three-day period (before, day of, after) which included highlights, promos, features and other content.
The WTT Playoffs will be televised live and exclusively on CBS Sports Network next week at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, with the WTT semifinals airing Aug. 2 at 7 p.m. ET and 10 p.m. ET and the WTT Final airing Aug. 3 at 7 p.m. ET.
The top four teams in the league will qualify for the playoffs, with the season ending next Wednesday July 31.
