“It was definitely my fault, what happened. I was asleep on several occasions when they complained at first but it was just a noise complaint but like I said, I’m sorry for the police and the noise I caused,” Tomic told CBS' Natalia Zea.
The 25th-ranked Aussie, who was banned from this weekend's Davis Cup quarterfinal in Darwin after his rant against Tennis Australia and Patrick Rafter, reportedly "point his finger aggressively" when hotel security came to his room for a third time requesting he turn down the volume on his music. Tomic reportedly slammed the door in their face.
Security then called police, returned to his room with two Miami police officers and told him and his guests to leave. Tomic's guests complied and left, but he did not resulting in his arrest.
“Yeah [I shut the door], because I told him that I wasn’t playing the music too loud and he was unhappy with the volume, so I asked him to come in and we negotiated the volume and he still wasn’t happy when he came in the second time, so the third time when he came back I was disappointed to see police there,” Tomic said in the video interview above.
The 22-year-old Tomic, who has had past run-ins witih police in Australia said: “I was very young, and I’d like to say I’ve learned, but in a different way last night obviously I haven’t, but I have now.”
