Bulgarian journalist Lubomir Todorov, senior editor for www.tennis24.bg, has written a new biography of Dimitrov titled Grigor Dimitrov: The Pride of Bulgaria. To order the book, written in Dimitrov's native language, please visit this link.
The book traces Dimitrov’s rise from his Haskovo hometown to his distinguished career as a Grand Slam junior champion to his challenges adjusting to the pro tour all the way to his London triumph where he became the first Bulgarian qualifier at the year-end event and took the title winning all five matches he played.
The biography features several interviews Todorov conducted with Dimitrov, traces his development with various coaches and discusses his off-court relationships.
Interviews with Bulgarian standout Magdalena Maleeva, Paul McNamee, Mikael Tillstrom and a Tennis Now editor are also included in the book.
In her memoir, Unstoppable: My Life So Far, Maria Sharapova, Dimitrov’s ex-girlfriend wrote the Bulgarian's biggest challenge was his perfectionism and his struggle to “win ugly.”
In London last November, Dimitrov said he looked forward to telling his story one day.
“The tennis lifestyle, it can go in so many directions, man,” Dimitrov said at the Nitto ATP Finals. “I mean, one day I would like to talk about it, absolutely. I think everyone is going to hear. I think I have a lot to say on that matter.”
