Federer Honored as Coin Star

Roger Federer is officially a coin star.

Federer owns more Grand Slam singles silverware than any other man and will make history as the first living person honored on a Swiss coin.

The Basel-born Federer will appear on a 20 Swiss Francs silver commemorative coin, which will be released on January 23rd.

There will be 55,000 total Swiss Francs minted with Federer's face. The Swissmint is accepting pre-sale orders starting today through December 19th.

The 20-time Grand Slam king posted an image of the coin on Instagram along with a message of gratitude.

"Thank you Switzerland and Swissmint for this incredible honour and privilege," Federer said in an Instagram post.

The Swissmint, which plans to issue a commemorative Federer gold coin in May, said Federer's commitment to supporting social causes, including through his Roger Federer Foundation, prompted the honor.
