The Hall of Famer believes the ninth-ranked Dimitrov has a strong shot to reach the US Open final or semifinal.

"I've been waiting for Dimitrov (to break through) for the past three or four years," McEnroe told the media. "I saw he looked better than I've ever seen him in Cincinnati. One of the matches of the year was the Nadal match in the semis of Australia. So he's got a great chance to step forward and do some (damage) get to the (US Open)  finals, or at least the semis."
