Video: Jankovic "Thirty and Flirty" in Cincinnati


Jelena Jankovic is once again delighting fans with her tennis and her trademark humor. And the former No. 1 may also be single and ready to mingle.

WTA: Serena Wins In Three Over Ivanovic in Cincy

Jankovic returned to the the Western and Southern Open semifinals in Cincinnati after defeating qualifier Anna Karolina Schmiedlova 6-4, 6-2. When asked right after her thoughts on the match, Jankovic said, "Where to begin. I'm thirty and flirty."

That drew a laugh from both Jankovic and the crowd who stayed to support her efforts in reaching the Cincinnati semifinals for a fourth time in her career. Jankovic won the title in 2009 and reached the finals in 2011.

Being comfortable and relaxed on court is probably why Jankovic blurted out being "30 and flirty". She laughed about it later in her press conference.

"I go up there and, I'm like, I'm 30 and flirty. I'm like, Oh, my God, did I just say that? You know, that's just being me. Sometimes the things that I say and the words that come out of my mouth is just…whatever."

Cincinnati remains a favorite tournament for Jankovic who is enjoying playing good tennis again after starting off this season dealing with injury. Highlights for Jankovic this year include reaching the Indian Wells final and upsetting then Wimbledon defending champion Petra Kvitova last month.

"I really love playing here in Cincinnati. You know, I think these conditions suit me very well. Jankovic said about the event. "The fans are very supportive. It's nice to see that, and I appreciate that very much. It's a great atmosphere. It shows, you know, with my results, you know, in the previous years."

Jankovic will next face No. 3 seed Simona Halep in the semifinals.
